David takes on Goliaths at the 38th Annie Awards
Kompost, a tiny but unbelievably creative Swiss design studio, has been nominated for an Annie Award for its Spaceman Stu animation commercial. Spaceman Stu has to battle it out as one of the top five 2010 Best Animated Television Commercials, to win the Award. Equivalent to an Oscar, the Annie Awards are the most prestigious honors in the Animation industry worldwide.
Leo Burnett, a leading international advertizing agency, asked Kompost to create an original animation to promote Mc- Donalds Happy Meal. Kompost did just that by captivating the imagination that lives inside every child. The story and the visuals show the colorful environment projected from Spaceman Stu’s point of view. Stu loves to gaze at the stars with a fish bowl over his head, dreaming of floating among them in space one day...
Spaceman Stu, will not be entirely defenseless as he takes on his four American competitors, including Dream Works, at the Annie Awards showdown on February 5 in Los Angeles. He is represented by Duck Studios and will be supported at the Awards by his creators, Oliver Conrad, Creative Director and Gian Klainguti, Executive Producer.
Conrad says, “We are deeply honored by the Annie Award nomination. Continued success has to be firmly based through working just like a family, as a real team, progressing organically”
Klainguti, takes it further, “Our goal is to continually promote a creative environment in which talented artists from around the world can find effective expression to their imagination”
